Meet Dr. Stubbins
"My goal is to help you learn about yourself, teach coping skills, and help you apply those skills to your life for true change. All I ask is that you come motivated and ready to work."
Dr. Stubbins is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He provides comprehensive care through assessments and therapy services to children, adolescents, and young to middle-aged adults. He has deep interest and ample experience in providing therapy to people of all backgrounds struggling with anxiety, mood, adjustment problems, ADD/ADHD, multicultural, relationships and men's issues.
His treatment approach is based on integrating cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and multicultural principles. He is a compassionate and understanding therapist and his primary goal is to provide a safe space where clients feel comfortable to explore their difficulties, learn about themselves, and find ways to make positive changes in their lives.
Dr. Stubbins earned his Ph.D. from Andrews University with a degree in Counseling Psychology. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of Cincinnati's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), where he provided individual and group psychotherapy, mental health outreach, and crisis management to undergraduate and graduate students. During his time at CAPS he created and co-led an all men's group. Following his time in Ohio, Dr. Stubbins worked at group private practice in Northern Virginia, where he continued to provide therapy and psychological assessments to diverse children, adolescents and adults.
He has also worked at several community mental health centers, including Valeo Behavioral Health Care in Topeka, Kansas as well as Maryhurst and Centerstone (formerly Seven Counties Services) in Louisville, Kentucky where he taught children and adolescents social skills and how to build positive relationships.
Dr. Stubbins lives with his family in Richmond VA.
